2021 World Series Futures Betting

It’s time to look at 2021 World Series futures. One thing the sports world does know about the 2021 Major League Baseball season is that it will start on April 1. Who will win next season’s World Series is unknown, but reigning champions the Los Angeles Dodgers are the favorites to win it all again.

Here’s a look at the early favorites and a pair of long shots that may be great early value picks to capture the 2021 World Series.
The Usual Suspects
The world champion Dodgers finally got the monkey off their back with a win in 2020. Nearly the entire lineup will return in 2021. Only Justin Turner and Joc Pederson are not signed for 2021.
The pitching staff is still among the league’s best with three-time Cy Young Award winner Clayton Kershaw and rising star Walker Buehler, who went 14-4 in 2019 and 1-0 in the COVID-shortened 2020 season. David Price will also return. With that mix of pitching and hitting, it’s easy to see why the Dodgers are a +400 favorite to repeat when looking at 2021 World Series futures.
The last team to repeat as World Series champion was the New York Yankees, who are listed at +600 to win the 2021 crown at online sports books. The Yankees have a lineup full of sluggers like Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton, both of whom they will need to keep healthy. The pitching is outstanding as well with Gerrit Cole and closer Aroldis Chapman.
The Contenders
Last year’s National League MVP Freddie Freeman returns along with Ronald Acuna Jr. to lead the Atlanta Braves in 2021. Atlanta took the Dodgers to a deciding Game 7 in the NLCS losing 4-3. The Braves are listed at +900 to win it all in 2021.
The Padres were somewhat of a surprise as young sensation Fernando Tatis hit .277 with 17 homers and 45 RBIs. San Diego fell to the Dodgers in the NLDS losing three straight in the best-of-five series. The Padres are given +1000 odds to win the World Series next year.

The Longshots
The Cincinnati Reds made the playoffs last season for the first time in a long time. The Reds pitching rotation which features Sonny Gray and Luis Castillo is one of the deepest in MLB. It’s why the Reds might be an early value 2021 World Series futures play at +1800.
If you’re looking for a true longshot to win the 2021 World Series, look first at Washington. Remember, the Nationals won it all in 2019 when no one thought they would. They still have easily the best trio of pitchers – Max Scherzer, Patrick Corbin, and Stephen Strasburg – in baseball. What they lack is hitters, but they do have a rising star in Juan Soto which is why the Nats deserve a look at +3000.
The other longshot worth consideration is Toronto. The Blue Jays made the postseason in 2020 and might be a year or two away from a real World Series run, but anything can happen. The Blue Jays have a pair of Hall of Famers kids in Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Cavan Biggio. What they lack is pitching which is why they are listed at +3500.
