Phoenix Suns face Los Angeles Lakers on TNT

Pacific division rivals the Los Angeles Lakers and the Phoenix Suns square off on Tuesday at the Staples Center (10:30 pm ET, TNT).

NBA Betting and Basketball Picks have Los Angeles as a 7-point favorite and the over/under total at 199.

Phoenix will have Aaron Brooks back in the lineup against the Lakers. The guard missed Sunday’s game as he was serving a one-game suspension after receiving a technical foul last week.

Speaking of suspensions, LA will be missing starting center Andrew Bynum, who will be serving the second game of a two-game suspension after being thrown out of Friday’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves after committing a flagrant foul. Lamar Odom was more than adequate replacing Bynum against Portland, scoring 16 points and pulling down 11 rebounds.

The teams have already met three times this season, with the Lakers going 2-1 SU. The road team has won all three games: Los Angeles won 114-106 win Oct. 29, cashing as 3.5-point road favorites. The Suns avenged that loss on Nov. 14 with a 121-116 victory as an 8.5-point road dog, and the Lakers won the last meeting 99-95 as a 4-point road favorite on Jan. 5.

The Lakers are a near-perfect 12-1 SU in their last 13 games. The Suns have won straight after a four-game losing streak.

Phoenix beat the Los Angeles Clippers 108-99 at the Staples Center on Sunday, cashing as a 1.5-point road underdog. The Lakers beat the Portland Trail Blazers 84-80 on Sunday at home, failing to cover as six-point home favorites.

Boston Celtics, New York Knicks clash at MSG on NBA TV

The Boston Celtics take on Atlantic division rival New York Knicks in NBA action Monday at Madison Square Garden (7:30 pm ET, NBA TV).

The Celtics (49-19 SU, 32-34-2 ATS) mounted a big comeback for an 89-85 win over the New Orleans Hornets on Saturday, covering as a 1-point road favorite. The score stayed under the total of 177.5.

The Knicks (35-33 SU, 40-26-2 ATS) lost 100-95 to the Milwaukee Bucks on Sunday, failing to cash as a 2-point road favorite. The score stayed under the total of 196. The Knicks feel behind early, getting outscored 32-9 in the first frame.

New York is 6-4 SU in its past 10, tied with the Chicago Bulls atop the Eastern Conference, while New York is 4-6 SU in its past 10, third in the Atlantic and seventh in the East.

Head-to-head, Boston is 8-2 SU and 4-6 ATS in the past 10 head-to-head meetings, with seven of those games going over the total. This is the third meeting of the season, and Boston has won the first two meetings, including a 118-116 win in their last clash Dec. 16. The Knicks cashed as a 4-point home underdog and the score went over the total of 205.

Boston is averaging 97.2 points a game and is No. 1 in the NBA in points allowed, giving up an average of just 91 per game. New York is No. 2 in scoring with an average of 106.6 points a game, but is 28th in the league in points allowed, giving up 105.8 a game.

Washington Huskies, North Carolina Tar Heels meet in March Madness action

NCAA Tournament play Sunday has the No. 7 seed Washington Huskies and the 2nd-seeded North Carolina Tar Heels clashing in an East Region matchup at the Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte (12:15 pm ET, CBS).

March Madness Odds have North Carolina as a 4-point favorite and the over/under total is at 158.

Washington (24-10, 15-16-1 ATS, 11-7 Pac-10) beat the Georgia Bulldogs 68-65 in their opener on Friday but failed to cover as a 6-point favorite. The score stayed under the total of 146. Isaiah Thomas scored 19 points to lead the Huskies.

North Carolina (27-7 SU, 15-15-1 ATS, 14-2 ACC) beat the Long Island Blackbirds 102-87 on Friday but couldn’t cash as an 18.5-point favorite. John Henson had 28 points and six blocks for the Tar Heels.

Later Sunday, the No. 1 seed Duke Blue Devils and the 8th-seeded Michigan Wolverines also square off at the Time Warner Cable Arena (2:45 pm ET, CBS).

NCAAB Odds have Duke as an 11.5-point favorite and the total at 136.

The Wolverines (21-13 SU, 21-8 ATS, 9-9 Big Ten) blew out the Tennessee Volunteers 75-45 in their opener Friday, easily covering as a 1–point underdog. The Blue Devils (31-4 SU, 20-14 ATS, 13-3 ACC) routed the Hampton Pirates 87-45 on Friday. The Blue Devils covered the big 25-point spread and the score was under the total of 132.5.

Duke is 4-1 SU and 3-2 ATS in the past five head-to-head meetings, but Michigan won the last meeting 81-73 on Dec. 6, 2008. The Wolverines cashed as a 9.5-point home underdog.

March Madness NCAA Tournament action Saturday features the No. 3 seeded Connecticut Huskies squaring off against Big East rival the No. 6 seed Cincinnati Bearcats at the Verizon Center in Washington, DC (9:40 pm ET, TBS).

March Madness Odds have the Huskies as a 3.5-point favorite and the over/under total is at 129.

Connecticut (27-9 SU, 19-11 ATS, 9-9 Big East) cruised past the Bucknell Bison 81-52 on Thursday, covering as 10.5-point favorites.

The Huskies have a 5-2 SU and ATS edge in the head-to-head series, and the teams met just three weeks ago, when UConn won 67-59 and cashed as a 3.5-point road underdog on Feb. 27.

An earlier game Saturday has the No. 5 seed West Virginia Mountaineers facing the No. 4 seed Kentucky Wildcats at the St. Petes Times Forum in Tampa (12:15 pm ET, CBS).

NCAAB Odds have the Wildcats as a 3.5-point favorite and the over/under total at 132.

West Virginia (21-11 SU, 13-16 ATS, 11-7 Big East) beat the Clemson Tigers 84-76 in the second round on Thursday, cashing as a 2–point favorite.

Kentucky (26-8 SU, 14-14-1 ATS, 10-6 SEC) barely got past Ivy League champion Princeton Tigers, coming away with a 59-57 win Thursday. The Wildcats failed to cover as a 12.5–point favorite, and the score was under the total of 132.5.

No. 15 seed Akron Zips face No. 2 Notre Dame Fighting Irish at NCAA Tournament

March Madness Betting action Friday features the Akron Zips battling the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in a Southwest Region matchup at the NCAA Tournament at Chicago’s United Center (1:40 pm ET, TBS).

College Basketball Odds and Basketball Picks have the Fighting Irish as a 14-point favorite and the over/under total at 136.

Both the Zips and Irish go into this game with starting lineups loaded with seniors, Notre Dame boasting five senior starters and Akron with three senior starters.

Notre Dame gets 65 of its 76 PPG from the starting five seniors, and the school has done a great job of retaining senior players in recent years. The Irish have had few early departures in recent seasons, even keeping Luke Harangody, now with the Cleveland Cavaliers, for his senior season.

Akron (23-12 SU, 18-12 ATS, 9-7 MAC) ended the regular season third in the MAC’s East division but won the conference title while Notre Dame (26-6 SU, 16-11 ATS, 14-4 Big East) finished second in the Big East and bowed out in the conference semifinals.

The Zips beat the Kent State Golden Flashes 66-65 in overtime last Saturday to take the MAC title. Akron covered as a 1.5-point underdog and the score was under the total of 137.

Notre Dame lost 83-77 to the Louisville Cardinals, also in OT, in the Big East semifinals. Notre Dame failed to cash as a 2-point favorite and the score went over the total of 138.5.

March Madness tips off Thursday with several matchups, including the UCLA Bruins taking on the Michigan State Spartans in a Southeast Region matchup at the NCAA Tournament at the St. Pete Times Forum (9:20 pm ET, TBS).

College Basketball Odds and Basketball Picks have the Spartans as a 1.5-point favorite and the over/under total at 125.

No. 10 seeded Michigan State (19-14 SU, 11-19-1 ATS, 9-9 Big Ten) was upset 61-48 by the Penn State Nittany Lions in the Big Ten Tournament semifinals last Saturday, unable to cover as a 4-point favorite.

No. 7 seed UCLA (22-10 SU, 15-15-1 ATS, 13-5 Pac-10) lost 76-59 to the Oregon Ducks last Thursday in the Pac-10 Tournament quarterfinals, failing to cash as an 8-point favorite

UCLA is 2-1 SU and 3-0 ATS in the past three meetings, but the last meeting was in 2007 season, when UCLA won 68-63 and covered as a 4.5-point home favorite.

Another NCAA Tournament matchup has the Gonzaga Bulldogs and the St. John’s Red Storm in a Southeast Region tile at the Pepsi Center (9:45 pm ET, CBS).

College Basketball Betting has the Red Storm as a 1.5-point favorite and the over/under total at 135.

March Madness play-ins continue in Dayton on TRUTV

March Madness First Four play-in games on Wednesday start with the Alabama State Hornets and the Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners in an East Region matchup at Dayton Arena (6:30 pm ET, TRUTV).

College Basketball Odds have the Roadrunners as a 4-point favorite and the over/under total at 130.

Alabama State (17-17, 4-1 ATS, 11-7 SWAC) looked awful to start the season, with eight losses in its first nine games. But the Hornets turned it on in January, going 10-1 SU in their last 11 regular-season games. They entered the SWAC Tournament as the No. 4 seed and proceeded to win all three games to claim the SWAC title.

Texas-San Antonio (19-13 SU, 2-1 ATS, 9-7 Southland) has won five straight after having a similar bad start to the season. The Roadrunners entered the tournament as the No. 7 seed, and then on to knock off the conference’s top three seeds.

The winner must face the No. 1 Ohio State Buckeyes on Friday.

The second play-in game Wednesday has the Virginia Commonwealth Rams and the USC Trojans battling in Southwest Region NCAA Tournament matchup at Dayton Arena (9 pm ET, TRUTV).

NCAAB odds have the Trojans as a 4.5-point favorite and the over/under total at 127.5.

Virginia Commonwealth (23-11 SU, 10-15 ATS, 12-6 CAA) lost the CAA title game 70-65 to the Old Dominion Monarchs last Monday, failing to cash as a 4.5–point underdog. The score went over the total of 125.

USC (19-14 SU, 14-13-3 ATS, 10-8 Pac-10) fell 67-62 to the No. 15 Arizona Wildcats in the Pac-10 semifinals last Friday. The Trojans couldn’t cover as a 1–point favorite. The score went under the total of 132.5.

The winner of this faces sixth-seeded Georgetown Hoya in the NCAA Tournament’s first round on Friday in Chicago.

March Madness is officially here as play-in action for the NCAA Tournament gets started Tuesday with the UNC Asheville Bulldogs and the Arkansas-Little Rock Trojans clashing at Dayton Arena (6:30 pm ET, TRUTV).

College Basketball Odds have the Bulldogs as a 4-point favorite and the over/under total at 128.

The Bulldogs (19-13 SU, 3-1 ATS, 11-7 Big South) beat the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers 60-47 in the Big South championship game on Saturday, cashing as a 5.5-point underdog.

The Trojans (19-16 SU, 13-14 ATS, 7-9 Sun Belt) upset the North Texas Mean Green 64-63 last Tuesday to win the Sun Belt title, covering as a 3.5-point underdog.

The second game Tuesday has the UAB Blazers taking on ACC Tournament semifinalist Clemson Tigers at Dayton Arena (9 pm ET, TRUTV).

NCAAB Odds and Basketball Picks have Clemson as a 4.5-point favorite and the total at 121.5.

UAB lost 75-70 in overtime to the East Carolina Pirates in the Conference USA tournament quarterfinals last Thursday, unable to cover as a 7.5–point favorite.

Clemson lost 92-87 in OT to the North Carolina Tar Heels in the semifinals of the ACC Tournament on Saturday.  The score was a push as UNC was a 5-point favorite.

The Tigers have gone 4-1-1 ATS in their past six games and 16-7 SU in their last 23 games.

NBA Betting action Monday features a marquee matchup between the NBA-leading San Antonio Spurs and the Miami Heat at the American Airlines Arena (8:05 pm ET, ESPN).

Miami (45-21 SU, 30-35-1 ATS) has bounced back with two straight wins after losing five in a row. The Heat’s mini-streak started with a 94-88 win over the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday, which snapped the Lakers’ eight-game winning streak.

The Spurs have won three in a row, the latest a 115-107 victory over the Rockets on Saturday. San Antonio covered as a 1-point road favorite and the score went over the total of 211.

The Heat beat the Memphis Grizzlies 118-85 on Saturday, easily cashing as an 8-point home favorite. The score went over the total of 197.

Head-to-head, the Spurs are 8-2 SU and 6-4 ATS in the past 10 meetings. They have met once previously this season, when the Spurs routed the Heat 125-95 on March 4. San Antonio cashed as a 2.5-point home favorite and the score went over the total of 196.

Orlando Magic visit Phoenix Suns on ABC

While it’s Selection Sunday in College Basketball, NBA Betting fans have a nationally televised NBA matchup on tap when the Orlando Magic and the Phoenix Suns square off at the US Airways Center (3:30 pm ET, ABC).

Orlando (41-25 SU, 28-36-2 ATS) is 6-4 SU in the past 10 and sit 3.5-games back of the Miami Heat in the Southeast division while Phoenix (33-30 SU, 29-33-1 ATS) also is 6-4 in the past 10 and is in 9th in the Western Conference, 1.5 games behind the Memphis Grizzlies for the last playoff spot.

Phoenix is 7-3 straight up but just 2-7-1 against the spread in the past 10 head-to-head meetings. This is the second meeting of the season. The Magic won 105-89 and cashed as a 10.5-point home favorite on Nov. 18. The score stayed under the total of 204.5.

Orlando is 4-2 SU in its last six games on the road while Phoenix is 10-5 SU in its last 15 games at home, but just 1-5 ATS in its last six games at home.
